WHAT IS THE LIST, WHO CAN JOIN, AND HOW DO I JOIN?

  • WHAT IS THE LIST?

The list is an online platform designed exclusively for local criminal defense lawyers, with a particular focus on the defense of indigent persons. The list serves as a digital community where lawyers can connect, share knowledge, and collaborate on matters related to criminal defense practice. You can expect to receive and contribute information on legal developments, share experiences, and seek or provide advice.

It is our goal through this list to facilitate the provision of more support and resources to appointed counsel, foster a collaborative and positive online environment, and ultimately help to build a greater sense of community among the local defense bar.

  • WHO CAN JOIN?

Criminal defense lawyers who (a) accept appointments to represent indigent accused persons in Allegheny County’s Criminal Division, (b) work at the Allegheny County Office of the Public Defender, or (c) accept ALIJ’s invitation to serve as a volunteer presenter in our appointed-counsel training program. Other defense lawyers may also request to join the list, and those requests will be granted or denied at the discretion of ALIJ’s training planning team. Lawyers who serve as judicial law clerks in the Criminal Division are not eligible.
